Image permission problem with Image:Houston 202.jpg

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Houston 202.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the image (or other media file) agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the GFDL or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the image to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the image has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the image's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Images lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 17:35, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:David 207.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

IMDB

Although I applaud your efforts at creating articles on television shows, I would ask that you endeavor to source them more reliably. Surely you must want them to be good articles! Sourcing them to IMDB opens them up to all sorts of inaccuracies, since IMDB has user-generated content. Please read our policy on reliable sources. If you need help finding sources, I would be more than happy to help you find some. Awadewit (talk) 07:03, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Colley Barbar1.jpg

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Colley Barbar1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:09, 18 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 03:09, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Hey Billy,

Thanks for your many additions to TV show articles. Sooo many cool articles! However, I'm sort of worried about adding mid-season replacement series to the Fall schedules (because it hasn't been done consistently, and we may not be able to do it consistently); I've left a note here. I'd like a wider consensus, if possible. Best wishes and happy editing, Firsfron of Ronchester 02:44, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

  • Consider tagging this as {{PD-pre1978}} or people will keep being confused. It would also be good to specify the precise yearbook from which it came and explicitly state that there was no copyright notice. Crypticfirefly (talk) 02:37, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of James Brown (Rin Tin Tin)

A tag has been placed on James Brown (Rin Tin Tin) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. MuffledThud (talk) 20:17, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Just to let you know...

Copyright lasts 70 years after the image creator's death. Some of these yearbook images you state to be from the 1970s or a similar time; that isn't long enough for the image to be considered public domain. (also, you should comment at the deletion discussion pages, which are linked too in the deletion notice, rather than on the image description pages). Just leave a note at my talk page if you have any other questions or are confused. –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 16:26, 3 May 2009 (UTC)

My apologies; it seems that I was mistaken here, and Crypticfirefly was kind enough to correct me. You should probably provide some more information on the copyright status for each image, e.g. specifically noting that it was published without a copyright notice in the 1970s and is therefore assumed to be public domain; it can be confusing when there's an "official" photograph which is tagged as public domain without further explanation. Thanks! –Drilnoth (T • C • L) 14:26, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Billy, I appreciate your hard work on the Wikipedia article for my "hometown", Bossier City! However, on August of 2008 I posted on the Talk:Bossier_City,_Louisiana page that this article is very poorly sourced. I did try to find sources for some of the unreferenced material, but I could not find anything substantial. For starters, much of the article is not sourced at all. Beyond that, two of your primary sources (Bossier City History and Bossier City Centennial History websites) no longer exist. Further, none of the "notable" residents or natives are referenced. You must provide reliable references saying these people are from or have lived here. For many of these, it shouldn't be too difficult. Some of the more obscure people mentioned might be difficult to prove though. If you provide me with citations I will help you place them within the article. If you (or another editor) cannot provide references, I will remove the un-referenced material. Thanks! Wikiwikikid (talk) 21:50, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Judaism template

Hi Billy Hathorn! I have reverted some of your additions of the Judaism template to articles. It's a fairly large template that's relevant to core topics in Judaism, so usually it's not relevant to articles about individual Jews. Maybe a few really prominent Jewish scholars, like Maimonides, but not every notable Jewish person. Cheers, Ynhockey (Talk) 23:12, 15 May 2009 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Revised photo, First Baptist Church of Ringgold, LA IMG 0696.JPG

Thanks for uploading File:Revised photo, First Baptist Church of Ringgold, LA IMG 0696.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:06, 30 May 2009 (UTC)

Recent Photo Uploads

Its great that you love taking pictures, however Wikipedia articles are not here to be a display of your photographic works. Even free images should be used appropriately, and not just used to decorate articles. I'd encourage you to instead upload these images to Wikimedia Commons, with appropriate categorization so they can be linked to from the article. I have reverted all of your edits to both Bryan, Texas, Brazos County, Texas, and Blinn College. -- Collectonian (talk · contribs) 22:24, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

I was clicking through the new Supreme Court nominee, then Harriet Miers, then Melvin Belli, then Johnny Cochran, then Shreveport, etc. Anyway, to make a long story short, I found an article that needs to be written. You seem to be an expert in this area.

Help me write it here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:F203/sandbox/Liz
